White spruce, Picea glauca, is native throughout Canada. They prefer full sun but they can also be very tolerant of shade.
It is also useful as a windbreak and provides food and shelter to wildlife. Growth rate, medium, height increases of 13-24 inches per year. Lives for 250-350 years. Grows up to 25-30 meters.
They like soil that is slightly acidic and moist but well-draining. These trees grow most efficiently in loam but will do just fine in sandy soil or even well-drained clay.
Each seed bomb contains 6-10 seeds meaning the germination rate is high. If planting on private property thinning out seedlings in order to successfully grow numerous trees from one seed bomb.
